Gordon Ehlers, M.D.
Gordon has been practicing medicine for
more than 25 years. A former Air Force flight surgeon, he is
certified in sports medicine and family practice, emphasizing
adult and geriatric medicine. From his practice he’s gained an
unusually broad experience base by treating more than 100,000
outpatients and 5,000 hospital patients. Having provided
medical care for thousands of men as they’ve aged, Gordon has
recognized the pivotal importance of the decade of the50s in
the transition from youth to maturity. Currently, Gordon is a
faculty member at the Swedish Hospital Family Medicine
Residency, a University of Colorado-affiliated family practice
teaching program, where he teaches medical residents.Gordon
has also held leadership positions in the medical profession –
most notably past president of a 60-physician group practice
and vice chairman of a 1,400-physician affiliation. In his
spare time, he jogs, climbs Colorado’s 14,000-foot mountain
peaks, and recently was surprised (as many 50s malesare) to
find he has heart disease. Gordon lives in Denver suburb with
his wife, Michele, and children, Megan, Greta, and Erik.

For the past 10 years he’s been a free-lance writer. His articles have appeared in more than 130 different magazines and newspapers, including Better Homes & Gardens, CountryLiving, The New York Daily News, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, Dallas Morning News, and the inflights for U.S.Air, Delta, British Airways, Singapore Airlines, and Qantas. Additionally, Jeff researched and wrote the hardbound historybook, Stapleton International Airport: The First Fifty Years, and a WWI historical novel, Behind The Lines. Miller came up with the idea for Facing Your Fifties
because he knew – just like the average Boomer male – that he should be doing more for his health, but didn’t know where to start. He’s still not doing everything he should, but he’s working on it. Jeff lives in Denver with his wife, Susan Burdick. | Gordon Ehlers, M.D.
