Ladies -- Some Painful Truths We'll Admit
We know that women are the true care-givers of most men.
It's true that we men should take more personal responsibility for our own health, and that's a critical reason why we wrote Facing Your Fifties: A Man's Reference Guide To Mid-Life Health.
But it's also true that the average 50s man approaches his health like he shops: If he needs a pair of pants he goes to one store, tries on one pair, and if they fit he walks out with a new pair of pants. Meaning, of course, that when it comes to health, most men don't want to know anything until something breaks down, then they want immediate action.
Compounding this "guy thing" is the fact that most of us 50s men are reluctant to discuss any medical situations even with our wives or doctors. That's because many of us are afraid or embarrassed to speak of our problem, or don't feel that admitting to a medical concern is "manly."
While we certainly hope that the majority of those who buy our book are men, we also believe that the spouses or significant others of 50s men can benefit from reading Facing Your Fifties. Women can gain great insight into their partner's physical health -- and might even be able to notice changes that could signal severe illnesses, diseases or even cancer. We hope you enjoy our book |
